Classes


This is an open and casual group that meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month, where we explore techniques and ideas for making your own, personalized art journal. Participants are encouraged, but not required, to take turns sharing ideas.

Cost: $ FREE
This is a great quilt because it is such a large block. In fact, you can make a baby quilt out of a block and borders. This is a free pattern from Free Spirit and we will give you direction and guidance and a fun place to sew with your friends.

Cost: $ 30.00
Block of the Month. Finally resuming our group. Third Saturday 10 am.

A time for you to bring your Ph.D's (project half done) or UFO (unfinished objects) and get some advice or help or just a place to spread out and sew! $10 per session, pre-register please so we have the space.

Harmony Block of the Month is a nine month Block of the Month using the beautiful Night Riviera fabrics from Marcus. We will meet and have instruction the Last Saturday of the Month and you can stay and sew. (Note November and December we will meet a week earlier due to Holidays). Price includes all fabric for the queen size quilt top, the pattern booklet and instruction. $25 class fee is for enrollment plus first block, then pay $25 per month thereafter.

Bring your machines and some scraps and Kristin will demo foundation paper piecing. We will have pineapple block foundations, economy block foundations and New York Beauty foundations to practice on.

Cost: $ 20.00
Beginner class. Super easy, straight lines. Come sew with us. Makes a 39.5 inch by 49.5 quilt, but you can add more blocks or borders to make it the size you want. See photo of our version made with various centers.

Cost: $ 40.00
Must have basic sewing skills and machine mastery. Need to have everything purchased and ready to go beforehand. We will have the interfacing and a selection of zippers and hardware for sale. Class fee is $25.

Gathering Stitches Class Policy


To make classes enjoyable for all, we request that you adhere to the following policies. Thank you for having confidence in us as we further your quilting knowledge.

Registration
  • To reserve your class spot, payment will be required at time of registration.
  • You can register in person, or over the phone
  • If you need to use a GS sewing machine for your class, please reserve it ahead of time. It is free to use!

Basic Class Requirements
  • Sewing Machine
  • Thread
  • Sewing Machine needles
  • Scissors
  • Rotary Cutter
  • Mat
  • Ruler(s) as indicated in pattern or class notes
  • Pins
  • Pen and Paper for Notes
  • Pattern (if required)
  • Fabric to make the pattern
  • Notions required in the pattern

  • Optional but recommended:
  • Wonder Clips
  • Spray starch or alternative (Best Press, Flatter Spray)

Specific Class Supplies
  • Some classes require supplies. If supplies are needed, a supply list can be obtained either in-store or online under the class section.
  • Be sure to purchase your supplies ahead of class so that you are prepared! All students receive a 10% discount on supplies required for classes. Just remind the staff member!

Cancellations
  • If you must cancel, allow 5 days prior notice. We will be happy to refund the amount, apply it as a store credit, or apply it to another class.
  • Cancellations less than 5 days prior to class may result in fee forfeiture. We will do our best to fill your spot, but if it cannot be filled, class fees will not be reimbursed.
  • Gathering Stitches reserves the right to cancel a class for any reason. If your class has been canceled, you will receive a full refund.

Class Etiquette
  • Please arrive on time and prepared with class materials.
  • Turn off your cell phone (or at lease put on silent). If you MUST take a call, please step out of the classroom.
  • Please pay attention to the instructor.
  • Don't forget to leave your work area clean!

If you would like to see a class that isn’t currently offered, ask, and we will do our best to get it scheduled.
