Join us for a 5 session hands-on, beginner-friendly quilting series designed specifically for students who already know how to operate their sewing machine. This class is NOT a “how to use your sewing machine” class — it is a quilting basics workshop for confident machine users who want to learn how to piece quilt blocks and build a complete quilt top. This 5-session course will meet on: January 12, 16, 19, 23, and 26 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM Each session builds on the last, teaching you the essential skills every quilter needs while guiding you through the creation of a 50" × 50" quilt top. WHO THIS CLASS IS FOR This class is perfect for you if: You are comfortable using your sewing machine You can thread your machine, wind a bobbin, and sew a straight line You want to learn basic quilting step-by-step without feeling rushed You enjoy creative, supportive, community-style classes This class is not designed for learning how to operate a sewing machine. Longarm Certification & Rental Sessions Interested in using our longarm machine for your own quilting projects? These Longarm Certification & Rental Sessions are designed for quilters who want to become certified to rent our longarm in the future or for those who are already certified and want time on the machine for personal projects. During certification sessions, you’ll receive hands-on instruction covering machine operation, safety, setup, and best practices to ensure you feel confident and capable working independently. Once certified, you’ll be eligible to schedule future longarm rental time. Certified users may reserve rental sessions to work on their own quilts during designated time slots. Time slots are limited and available by reservation only. Supplies and preparation requirements apply and may vary by project. Please speak directly with the instructor prior to booking to review requirements, confirm eligibility, and ensure the session is a good fit for your project. Whether you’re getting certified or continuing your quilting journey on our longarm, these sessions provide the space, guidance, and equipment you need to bring your quilts to life.

Come sew with us! This is a simple but striking quilt, made simpler using Studio 180 rulers. (Not required) You will be a master of flying geese and square in a square blocks!

Come learn to machine embroider. Bring your machine or use ours. Marie will have projects to do every month, based on what the group wants to learn! Club will be the last Friday of each month.

Lounge Pant Sewing Class Learn how to create a custom lounge pant pattern using a pair of your own pants! In this class, you’ll be guided step-by-step through the process of drafting a pattern from a garment you already love, then using that pattern to create comfortable, wearable lounge pants. This class is great for sewists who want to learn pattern-making basics and gain the confidence to recreate garments that fit their body and style. What you’ll learn: How to draft a pant pattern using an existing pair of pants Basic garment construction techniques Tips for fit and fabric selection Supplies Needed (not provided): Approximately 3 yards of fabric of your choice Basic sewing supplies (scissors, pins, thread, etc.) Sewing machine in good working order Important Notes: No supplies are provided for this class If you need to borrow a sewing machine, please notify the instructor in advance Instructor: Val This class is perfect for confident beginners and intermediate sewists who want to expand their garment-sewing skills while learning a practical technique they can use again and again.

Gathering Stitches Class Policy


To make classes enjoyable for all, we request that you adhere to the following policies. Thank you for having confidence in us as we further your quilting knowledge.

Registration
  • To reserve your class spot, payment will be required at time of registration.
  • You can register in person, or over the phone
  • If you need to use a GS sewing machine for your class, please reserve it ahead of time. It is free to use!

Basic Class Requirements
  • Sewing Machine
  • Thread
  • Sewing Machine needles
  • Scissors
  • Rotary Cutter
  • Mat
  • Ruler(s) as indicated in pattern or class notes
  • Pins
  • Pen and Paper for Notes
  • Pattern (if required)
  • Fabric to make the pattern
  • Notions required in the pattern

  • Optional but recommended:
  • Wonder Clips
  • Spray starch or alternative (Best Press, Flatter Spray)

Specific Class Supplies
  • Some classes require supplies. If supplies are needed, a supply list can be obtained either in-store or online under the class section.
  • Be sure to purchase your supplies ahead of class so that you are prepared! All students receive a 10% discount on supplies required for classes. Just remind the staff member!

Cancellations
  • If you must cancel, allow 5 days prior notice. We will be happy to refund the amount, apply it as a store credit, or apply it to another class.
  • Cancellations less than 5 days prior to class may result in fee forfeiture. We will do our best to fill your spot, but if it cannot be filled, class fees will not be reimbursed.
  • Gathering Stitches reserves the right to cancel a class for any reason. If your class has been canceled, you will receive a full refund.

Class Etiquette
  • Please arrive on time and prepared with class materials.
  • Turn off your cell phone (or at lease put on silent). If you MUST take a call, please step out of the classroom.
  • Please pay attention to the instructor.
  • Don't forget to leave your work area clean!

If you would like to see a class that isn’t currently offered, ask, and we will do our best to get it scheduled.
