Getting to Know Your Sewing Machine: Beginner Sewing Class New to sewing or need a little help getting comfortable with your machine? This beginner-friendly class is a relaxed introduction to the basics of using a sewing machine. We’ll learn how to thread your machine, wind and insert a bobbin, choose and adjust stitches, use the presser foot, and become familiar with your machine’s basic functions. You’ll have plenty of hands-on practice while learning how to sew with confidence. To put your new skills to work, we’ll also create a simple raw-edge fabric coaster project using scraps. This fun project is a great way to practice straight stitching, sewing layers together, and working with fabric while making something useful to take home. No previous sewing experience is required! I will show you the basics to make any size tote bag you like, with options for pockets. No hardware needed for this bag. To make the basic bag, please have 4 fat quarters of fabric, and 2 yards strapping or webbing . for a bigger bag or to add interior pockets, bring extra fabric. Of course we have a full shop of fabric if you want to pull your choices here!
